Dr Anstead was part of the award’s judging panel as well as the guest speaker at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City last Saturday night.
“I was thinking if I was going to an award presentation for literature or architecture or design, I’d love to know what was happening in Perth in that field.
I’m trying to give you that in terms of my field, in terms of painting and contemporary art.
I wish I could say it is at a great point. And in some ways it is, it’s at a very early point. But I think
it’s actually in a state of emergency.
One of them is reading Robert Hughes’ book on Goya. Hughes is the most famous Australian art historian who died recently’d surreal.
