Time to talk about the marina

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two parties, first executed in February 2012 for an initial two years, is set to be renegotiated.

The City is also to provide financial analysis of the current concept plan to relevant State Government departments and agencies to help prepare business cases for the project.

‘In order to continue to harness and utilise the power of the MOU as the project progresses through the approvals process and beyond, it is considered appropriate that negotiations to renew and extend the MOU with the State Government become a priority,’ Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said.

These latest developments follow the City’s submission of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS) amendment to the WA Planning Commission in July.

‘The submission of the MRS amendment request is consistent with the MOU, which the City signed with the State Government, and recognises the importance of the Ocean Reef Marina and the joint commitment of the parties to the project,’ Mr Pickard said.

The next step will be to prepare a local structure plan to be adopted under the City’s district planning scheme.

– The City held two public forums yesterday to update residents on the project.

A third event will be held at 11am this Saturday, at the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club.
