Belgrade Road rural property owners Margaret and David Manners said government plans for the area had been circulating for the past 35 years.

‘When he said that, I thought I was going to be sick,’ Mrs Manners said.

‘It’s cruel ” they’ve ignored the fact that human lives have been involved, people’s livelihoods have been destroyed.’
