Tour guide organises fundraising campaign for Nepal

Lauren PedenWanneroo Times

Best Bali Tours' Alma Reeves, of Currambine, is raising money for the Raj Bala Treks Earthquake Fund to help cover tents, drinking water, medicine, rice, food, transportation of goods, clothes and sanitation.

She hopes to raise $15,000 on a fundraising page she created on the mycause website.

Calling for everyone to contribute what they could, she said outside assistance was desperately needed with many parts of the nation in total ruin.

"This is a small cause with modest goals but it will provide immense relief to these people," she said.

She said they were contacted by local Himalayan trekking company Raj Bala Treks about supporting rescue efforts and emergency support to the remote villages of Sindhupalchowk, Kavre, Nuwakot, Dolakha and Okhaldhunga.

"The local Nepalese trekking companies and other agencies are already doing an amazing job reaching villages in extreme remote areas but as they said, due to limited resources and budget, their help was not enough because the number of victims are much higher," she said.
