Tree marks cultural bond

The Australian red-flowering gum was chosen to represent the red on the Japanese flag while a golden wattle shrub was planted nearby to symbolise the two colours ” red and gold ” thought to represent prosperity in Japanese culture.

After the tree planting, Wanneroo Secondary College students and the visiting Japanese Miki High School students enjoyed an authentic Australian barbecue.
