SEA rescue, fire brigade and State Emergency Service volunteers have received awards for their efforts from the City of Wanneroo.

Almost 150 people attended a dinner for emergency service volunteers in Wanneroo last Friday, including volunteers from Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue (TRVMRG), Wanneroo – Joondalup SES, Yanchep Fire and Rescue, Quinns Mindarie Surf Life Saving Club, Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club and the Driver Reviver program.

Mayor Tracey Roberts thanked all of the volunteers for giving up their time for the benefit of the community, acknowledging that they often did so in difficult and dangerous situations.

“Our emergency services volunteers have all played a role in keeping the City of Wanneroo – and our residents – safe,” she said.

“Whether on the ocean or land, on the front line or in a support role – they are crucial to the wellbeing of our 195,000 residents.”

Mrs Roberts presented volunteer excellence awards to four volunteers, including Noel Bradshaw (Wanneroo-Joondalup SES), Craig Smith (Yanchep Fire and Rescue), David Haynes and Kay Westphal (both TRVMRG).

The City hosts several volunteer appreciation functions throughout the year, with the next for heritage and libraries volunteers in September.
