Updated pH device has key role in science

The device has the potential for use in the oil and gas industry to monitor pH levels of oil in pipelines and in the medical industry to monitor stomach acidity.

‘There are teams working on swallowable pills to monitor patients’ bodies from the inside,’ researcher Devendra Maurya said. ‘The ruthenium oxide sensor could be perfect for such an application.’

ECU’s $8 million clean-room facility played a key role in precisely controlling the thickness of the ruthenium oxide nano-film.
