The work is part of a program approved in March, 2008, to upgrade landscapes on the City of Joondalup’s seven major east-west roads.
A pilot project was carried out last year on the Burns Beach Road median and on Hodges Drive between Mitchell Freeway and Joondalup Drive for $2.58 million ($120 per square metre).
This cost was considered not sustainable for future projects and a review was undertaken.

READ NOWIn April, 2013, the council approved a new design for the Shenton Avenue project with a reduced cost of $1.85 million ($76 per square metre). This is currently under construction.
The 2015-16 works will cost an estimated $678,000.
