Vandals force poll move

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

Vandals got into the roof of the Flinders Park Community Hall and tore out electrical wiring, rendering the building temporarily unusable.

City of Joondalup staff discovered the damage on Tuesday morning and told local WA Electoral Commission returning officer Lyn Cavanagh the premises could not be repaired in time for the poll.

‘Fortunately, we had already scoped and inspected another potential polling place which was used at the 2005 State election,’ she said.
