Vandals ruin Friends of Periwinkle Bushland students’ work

CHILDREN of a Mullaloo school have been disheartened by the recent vandalism of their bushland conservation work.

Friends of Periwinkle Bushland co-ordinator Barry Fitzsimmons said plants were uprooted less than a week after students from Mullaloo Heights Primary School helped plant about 200 seedlings.

“Those that could be found have been replanted but we are most concerned the damage may re-occur,” he said.

“The planting is an annual event where the City of Joondalup grows and supplies the seedlings for the friends group and the school children to plant.

“They are all saddened by the disregard for their collective efforts. Unfortunately this and other bushland areas are subject to acts of vandalism on a regular basis.”
