A RECORDING career is now in sight for Tapping’s Bronwyn Stevens.

The talented youngster was among 34 to receive a Variety Scholarship at a ceremony held on April 21.

A passionate musician with an interest in playing guitar, Bronwyn’s scholarship will help pay for tuition to give her more confidence in playing guitar and singing at the same time.

Wanneroo pianist Richard Brider was also a recipient, having completed all levels of the Suzuki music program and now working to complete his masters.

The scholarship will provide him with a Braille music scanner and embosser to enable him to complete his Australian Tertiary Admission Rank subjects and work towards his goal of teaching music.

Two local residents were also awarded scholarships for sports.

Carramar’s David Stevanovic is a hard working martial artist who has recently progressed two belts.

This scholarship will help with tuition to continue his improvement.

Motocross rider Braydan Porter, of Banksia Grove, recently placed third in C grade for 50cc and won his club’s most improved award for 2016.

This year he will be moving up to 65cc and this scholarship will help pay for specialised equipment, membership and race fees so he can continue to build confidence on and off the track.

This year, Variety presented more than over $90,000 worth of scholarships across the arts, sports and education.

These are to help young people living with disability, chronic illness or disadvantage overcome adversity and reach their potential.

Applications are open to anyone under 18 years who demonstrates talent in their chosen field and has a genuine need for help.
