Victim suffers severe spinal injury

Police have put a fresh call out for the offender wanted since the assault on August 23.

Senior Constable Andrew Reeder, of Warwick Detectives, outlined the severity of the beating.

‘We suspect the offender has kicked him with hard boots,’ he said.

‘He rolled up in a ball to protect himself and must have hit him flush on the backbone.

‘It’s not a suspected spinal injury; it’s a confirmed broken vertebra.’

The victim was walking past Warwick Shopping Centre towards the train station about 7pm, when the offender knocked him to the ground from behind.

The assault continued as the man did his best to protect himself.

The offender was driving a gold-silver coloured 4WD.

Police are searching for a fair-skinned man who was wearing a blue short-sleeve shirt and dark shorts.
