WA Police lay firearm and drug charges against Yanchep man (23)

JOONDALUP Detectives have charged a man with weapon and drug offences following a vehicle stop in Wangara early Tuesday morning.

About 2.10am on September 4, officers stopped a Holden Commodore bearing false plates.

While searching the vehicle, they allegedly found methylamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, cash and stolen property.

Officers then searched a house in Yanchep where they allegedly found a sawn-off shot gun, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and stolen property.

Police charged a Yanchep man (23) with possessing a firearm, failing to ensure safe-keeping of a firearm or ammunition and being unlicensed to possess a firearm or ammunition.

Other charges include four counts of possessing stolen or unlawfully obtained property, possessing drug paraphernalia in or on which there was a prohibited drug, two counts of possessing drugs with intent to sell or supply and stealing a motor vehicle.

He is appearing in the Joondalup Magistrates Court today.
