The Madeley Primary School teachers and supporting friends and family will walk 60km in The Weekend to End Women’s Cancers next year, and they hope to raise more than $16,000.

Brenda said this was her chance to give back and say thank you to the parents, students and staff from the school, husband Dean, mother Wendy and hospital staff for their support during her treatment.

‘With their help, I managed to work right through all my treatment and they kept me in a positive mindset,’ she said.

‘After working full-time through chemo and radiation how hard can 60kms be?’

She said training for the event gave her motivation to exercise after hearing physical activity could prevent the cancer from returning.

The group recently held a Bogan Bingo and raised more than $7600.
