A WANNEROO resident, spurred on to support the Cancer Council by her father’s death, hosted a Biggest Morning Tea that raised more than $3300 for the charity.

Denise Reece held the fundraiser at Pineview Lifestyle Village on May 30 and has been hosting the teas for about 10 years.

“I started doing this because so many people I spoke to had been touched in some way by cancer,” she said.

“It started off in a small way and has just grown and grown and grown over the years.

“I lost my Dad to cancer four years ago; that hit me hard and again has spurred me to ‘keep calm and carry on’.

“The day itself was brilliant with more than 150 people smiling, talking and eating, and hopefully winning a prize.

“It went amazingly well and we raised $3381.45.”
