The proposal was to change a home to a childcare centre catering for up to 30 children and four staff, with 10 parking bays provided on the 827sq m lot.
Several residents used public question time to object to the application, with Pasco Putrino asking whether there was a need for a childcare centre in the area and Lori Munn voicing safety concerns.
Mayor Tracey Roberts clarified that the City’s report recommended refusal of the request. The report found the proposal did not accommodate a 3m landscaping strip or verge landscaping, the lot size was insufficient, car bays did not meet City standards and it did not comply with road hierarchy requirements.
