Wanneroo City Council approved the extractive industry application, subject to conditions, in December 2013 after originally refusing it in July.

The State Administrative Tribunal ordered the City to reconsider the approved conditions after the applicant sought a review of the council’s decision.

City staff reconsidered several conditions, which included modifications to site access, truck route, perimeter fencing, and use of chemicals to treat limestone on site.

Cr Dot Newton moved an amendment at the October council meeting to delete two new conditions allowing hydroxide, calcium and molasses on site.
