Wanneroo Council awards changeroom tenders, endorses skate park plan

SKATE park consultation and change room tenders were among the reports considered by Wanneroo Council this week.

At its July 2 meeting, the council accepted a $1.45 million tender submitted by Solution 4 Building to build the sports amenities building with a multi-purpose room at Shelvock Park in Koondoola.

It will replace the original change rooms, built in 1982.

The council accepted a $1.05 million tender submission from Devlyn Australia to build change rooms at Belhaven Park in Quinns Rocks.

It also noted outcomes of community consultation on Splendid Park skate facility, which indicated 87 per cent of 47 respondents supported the concept design or were undecided pending suggested design changes.

The council endorsed the concept plan, noting administration would include CCTV in the project and submit a grant application for the $680,000 project.

The State Government has already provided $450,000 for the project and Mayor Tracey Roberts said the project would proceed in 2019-20 even if the grant application was unsuccessful.

Mrs Roberts said the facility would be highly appreciated by the community and there was a great sense of enthusiasm and excitement for it.

The project started after a resident put forward a motion at an electors’ AGM in January 2016, and the City plans to start construction this December, with June 2020 earmarked for its completion.
