“I am very proud of what I have achieved during my time as an elected member,” she said.

“I feel the contribution I have been able to make has assisted local residents to achieve a safe, active and connected community.”

Mayor Tracey Roberts thanked Cr Simpkins for her contribution to the community.

“I would like to thank Lara for her dedication, enthusiasm and hard work, on behalf of the City’s South Ward residents, over the past three years,” Mrs Roberts said.

“We are sad to farewell Lara and wish her and her family every success.”

A report will be presented to the September council meeting on whether a bi-election will be held or whether the vacancy will remain until the local government elections in October 2019.
