Wanneroo: extension of Edgar Griffiths Park’s Aussie rules oval begins

WORK starts on the extension of the Aussie rules oval at Edgar Griffiths Park in Wanneroo this week.

The City of Wanneroo project includes clearing of vegetation, earthworks, irrigation extension and laying turf at the Garden Park Drive site.

The City has advised that a temporary construction fence will be in place for the duration of the works and there will be some traffic management to safely guide vehicles and pedestrians around the worksite.

The oval extension work, expected to finish by autumn 2018, is the first part of a $2.6 million overall upgrade to the, with a sports amenities building and floodlighting also planned.

The amenities building will have two change-rooms, storerooms, a first aid room, umpire room, toilets and a 100sq m multi-purpose room.

The City expects to finish the full project in early 2019.
