WANNEROO resident Dorothy May Jamieson celebrated her 107th birthday yesterday.
The great-grandmother was born in Adelaide on August 13, 1911, and trained in nursing to be a midwife.
She met her future husband Alexander at the end of World War II and they married in 1946.
The couple had their first son, Kevin, a year later, then moved to WA and had their second son, David, in 1949.
Their six grandchildren arrived between 1973 and 1981, later producing five great-grandchildren between 2010 and 2014.
Mrs Jamieson volunteered with the Red Cross sewing group for many years, sewing clothes for the charity as well as doorknocking to raise funds.
She moved to Jacaranda Lodge in Wanneroo in 2009, 12 years after her husband died.
The couple’s other interests included gardening, travel and football.
