Wanneroo landowners seek rezoning to build on property

Laura PondWanneroo Times

WANNEROO landowners are seeking to rezone their property to allow for an additional 24 dwellings.

The owners of the property at the corner of High and Amos roads have applied to the City of Wanneroo to increase the residential density of the site from R20 to R40.

The existing zoning allows for about 40 dwellings but the amendment would permit a maximum of 64 homes, with the subdivision proposal showing 34 single lots, six duplet lots and two grouped housing sites.

They are also seeking to change the road layout “to a more logical design”, removing the “potentially dangerous sharp bend”.

The application said the amendment should be supported as it is consistent with State planning frameworks, the density increase is minor and consistent with objectives, the site is close to public transport and the Wanneroo town centre, and it would “produce a more viable and logical planning outcome”.

The proposal is open for feedback until August 15 via www.wanneroo.wa.gov.au/consultations.
