LIBRARY members and City of Wanneroo residents will be able to use Wanneroo Library on Sundays as part of the six-month trial starting in October.

Wanneroo Council approved the trial to open the library from 11am to 3pm on Sundays at its August 21 meeting.

Located on Rocca Way in the Wanneroo town centre, the library offers free services such as the e-library and computer facilities as well as books.

It also runs programs and events for early learners to seniors, and currently is open six days a week.

Mayor Tracey Roberts said that opening the library every day would provide greater access to local services and encourage community connectedness.

“Our libraries already see more than 8000 customers every week, but Sunday openings will offer increased convenience for current library-goers and also encourage new visitors to call-in and discover what’s available,” she said.

If the trial is a success, the City will consider permanent Sunday trading at the library and assess opening hours of its other libraries, museum and gallery.
