Wanneroo Rd speed limit to increase in June

Staff WriterWanneroo Times

THE Wanneroo Road dual carriageway opened last month, but lower speed limits are expected to remain in place until June.

Extra lanes on the 3.2km stretch between Joondalup Drive and Flynn Drive opened to traffic over Easter, several months later than the $31 million project was originally expected to finish.

This week Main Roads advised that the 60km/h speed limit would remain in place “as road conditions are new and unfamiliar” and in areas where works were ongoing, the limit was reduced to 40km/h.

“Once all finishing works are complete in early June 2019, the speed limit on Wanneroo Road will be signed at 70 km/h between Joondalup Drive and Carramar Road, and 80 km/h between Carramar Road and Flynn Drive,” it said.
