Wanneroo Road intersection closure delayed again

THERE have again been delays to the closure of the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive intersection.

The full weekend closure as part of the interchange project was first scheduled for June 7 to 10, then pushed back to June 21 to 24 because of “unanticipated construction delays”.

A Main Roads newsletter issued on Friday advised this again had been delayed because of “continual rains”.

“Being able to complete the final road works in time for the intersection closure date is weather dependent, making it difficult to accurately confirm the closure date weeks in advance,” it said.

“Therefore, we will confirm the intersection closure date five days in advance (on the Monday before the intersection will be closed).

“The date will be communicated via the electronic boards close to the intersection, Main Roads website, social media and electronic updates.”

However, it also mentions June 28 to July 1 as a possible closure weekend.

The newsletter said the project team was ready to start the final construction works required before the weekend intersection closure, but was waiting for dry weather.

It requires a minimum of four to five consecutive days for current works to dry, then another minimum of eight days for other works with any rain potentially impacting time delays.

Some out of hours works will also be required to ensure the intersection is ready for the closure works, as well as prepare for the next stage of works.
