Wanneroo social soccer violence: man’s jaw broken

Mark DonaldsonWanneroo Times

AS social soccer players would be aware, the five-a-side version of the game can sometimes descend into behaviour that’s far from social.

And while the tension rarely escalates beyond the odd shove, an incident in Wanneroo last week left a man with a broken jaw and other serious injuries.

Police released a statement today seeking witnesses to the assault, which happened about 7pm on January 31 at an outdoor pitch on Crissafulli Avenue.Police Media spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said the game became violent.

“As a result, the 25-year-old man was knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly to the head and face,” she said.
