Bushfire burning near Warwick Grove Shopping Centre contained

UPDATE: At 12:54pm the Department of Emergency and Fire services said they had contained a fire that had been burning out of control near Warwick Grove Shopping Centre.

Earlier, Beach Road was closed in both directions as fire crews battled the blaze.

DFES had warned people in Warwick’s south and the northern edge of Hamersley to ‘watch and act’.

That advice was for people in the area bound by Glendale Road and Dugdale Street to the west, Ellersdale Street to the north, Lloyd Drive to the east and Ardleigh Crescent between Glendale Avenue and Rannoch Circle in the south.
