In a State Government competition, Forest Crescent Primary School’s suggestion of the whale shark was named the winner.

The whale shark is known to gather off the coast of Exmouth during autumn and winter, attracting tourists to the Ningaloo Marine Park.

The whale shark joins the kangaroo paw, black swan, numbat and gogo fish as the state’s symbols.
