Joseph Ashton’s traditional circus, with a contemporary twist, has set up its iconic big top tent at Percy Doyle Reserve, Duncraig, from October 20 to November 3.
Pre-performance demonstrations will include circus owner and performer Joseph Ashton and his niece Dante Ashton (12), reviving an old family tradition of trick-riding and world-renowned animal trainer Zelie Bullen showing her training methods with dogs, a Shetland pony and Merlin the baby mule.
‘Feats of derring-do on horseback are the foundation of the modern circus,’ Ashton said.
The Ashton brothers’ will perform a knockabout routine and audiences are predicted to be kept on the edge of their seats as Jordan Ashton presents the only triple somersault on a flying trapeze, while Joseph Ashton will forward somersault on the outside of the Wheel of Death.
