Women on song in Hobart

Tyler BrownWanneroo Times

Under the direction of Kali Caramia, 39 chorus members competed in the 26th annual Sweet Adelines Australia Barbershop Convention, held from May 14 to 17.

This was the second convention the chorus has taken part in " though for 12 members it was their first " since it became a member of music organisation Sweet Adelines International in October 2013.

The competition comprised 19 choruses and 20 quartets singing four-part a cappella harmonies in barbershop style, scored by internationally accredited judges from the US. "Indian Blue performed admirably for a new chorus and were very excited that their sisters in song, A Cappella West from Murdoch, brought the gold medal home to WA," marketing co-ordinator Lyn Hull said.

As part of the convention, the chorus was one of two selected to take part in a master class coached by international judges.

"This was a great honour and something money can't buy," Ms Hull said.
