The 18-year-old last year took the national Clubman Lightkarting title and moved with his family from Kalgoorlie to concentrate on the next level of motorsport.
He was an almost instant success, taking the lead towards the end of the 2013 season, and last weekend’s two-out-of-three wins at Barbagallo Raceway gave him the State title.
He also won Australian Rookie of the Year for Formula Ford.
Perth V8 Supercar star Garth Tander, who also cut his teeth on karts and Formula Ford, spotted Anthony’s talents and had been mentoring him for the past few months.
Tander, who moved to Sydney years ago to manage his racing team, jetted in at the weekend to see his protg take the title.
He earlier also took Anthony to Phillip Island for a try-out session, and the WA champ will be racing there in a Tander team Durotech Formula Ford at month-end.
