Cr Liam Gobbert, who at the weekend’s election was returned to office along with Mayor Troy Pickard and fellow incumbents, is just 24.

‘The council retains a wonderful diversity of age, experience, background and interests ” diversity that I know will ably represent the broad cross-section, which comprises our community,’ Mr Pickard said during a swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday night for Cr Gobbert and others re-elected.

Mr Pickard implored his councillors not to ‘take for granted the position we hold’ or the ‘trust the community has placed in us’.
