The school worked with the City of Wanneroo and conservation maintenance officer Sasha Poli to bring the area back to its former glory, suitable as an environmental learning area for students.

Deputy principal Wally Malanczak said the area was overgrown with woody weeds, had become a dump for building and garden waste, a magnet for antisocial behaviour and had been set alight during summer.

Year 4-5 teacher Glenn Ross and his class cleared rubble and litter before pupils planted seven varieties of native plants provided by the City of Wanneroo.
