Decision changes fee perceptions

The women had not long received parking fines. Such penalties made up the City’s estimated $91,000-a-year revenue from Saturday infringements. It now forgoes that money, along with about $62,000 fed into meters. However, it will save $14,000 in wages to parking inspectors. Despite Saturday parking making up only 3.4 per cent of the City’s car park revenue, the City hopes abolishing it will ‘assist in removing the negative perceptions that the City uses paid parking solely as a revenue-raising exercise’.
