Opinion: Andrea Mitchell will be missed

Ron J Elphick, KingsleyWanneroo Times

AMONG all the recriminations following the electoral rout of the Liberal Party, can we reflect for a moment to pay tribute to all those Ministers and back bench members who, despite serving their constituents well for many years, have been swept aside by the Labor onslaught.

One of whom I have personal knowledge is Andrea Mitchell, the two-term Member for Kingsley and more recently a Minister.

Andrea worked untiringly for the people and organisations in her electorate.

For several years I had a close working relationship with her as chairman of the residents committee of Corinthian Court Retirement Village and Andrea became a very good friend to the village and to me personally.

I am sure there are many other groups and individuals in the Kingsley electorate who similarly appreciate all she has done for them, so “well done and thank you, Andrea”.

I wish our new Member well in the challenge she faces but cannot help be saddened by the loss of such a good representative as Andrea.

PS I am not a Liberal.

RON J ELPHICK,

Kingsley.
