OVER the past few weeks the stunningly beautiful rainbow bee-eaters have returned to their southern nesting areas from the far north of our huge State.
These birds dig a tunnel in the sandy areas of the South West in which they lay four or five eggs. The male can be differentiated by the two tail streamers that are longer than those of the female.
This image I took along Scenic Drive in Wanneroo where they have protected nesting areas courtesy of the City of Wanneroo.
