Opinion: Stop the urban sprawl

Tim Green, PadburyWanneroo Times

RE Wanneroo delegates eye Asia, Weekender, May 4. It’s time to stand up and take control of our City back from vested interests.

Do we really want places like Yanchep turned into ‘planned’ communities for half a million people?

Do we want urban sprawl from Perth to Jurien Bay? If you don’t, you need to make your views known to your councillors and local politicians, or the Perth that you and your children live in will be the one that suits developers and private equity firms.

I moved to Perth because of the relaxed lifestyle, open space and pristine beaches. There aren’t many places in the world left like Perth and it’s in danger of being ruined by greedy, unfettered development.

If that’s what you all want then I can move, but make sure it really is what you want, because we, the people, are actually in charge and can have the City that we want.

It needn’t be an incremental path to an urban jungle.

Make your voices heard people!

TIM GREEN,

Padbury
