PErson safety extends online

Sergeant Paul TrimbleWanneroo Times

We are seeing a regular amount of these types of offences occurring. Of greatest concern are people who exploit children online.

These criminals prey on young people, using gaming websites and forums to portray themselves as the same age as the victim. Once they build a friendship, they will groom the child.

This often results in the trust to exchange details, along with personal information online and even convincing them to meet face to face. We are encouraging parents to talk with their children about the risks involved online.
