Sentences too soft

Some time ago, I was assaulted at 11am outside a local bank on a Saturday morning. The two offenders kicked and punched me unconscious on to the pavement and then continued kicking me in the head in full view of families and children.

One offender pleaded guilty early and received a supervision order for 12 months. The second offender dragged out the court hearing for years before he received a 12-month suspended sentence.

I hope judges read this letter and become very aware of how disgusted we have become in their sentencing or rather lack of it.

The offenders in my case were guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm. Most of us out here in the real world know the punishment should be a jail sentence.

Why don’t the judges?
