HOW many people realise that every living leaf, no matter how small, absorbs CO2 and is a natural air conditioner?
How many realise that every brick or tile absorbs heat and increases the temperature?
Unless watered, grass dies off in summer, leaving a hideous desert. Why do we not have some of the many native, drought-resistant ground covers planted to hide those horrible heat sinks?
Why are more trees not planted on our verges to provide shade, reduce CO2 and temperature?
Why are those areas that need to be grass shaved as if they were a bowling green when raising the mower blades by a centimetre would save much of the watering?
Simple facts but true, yet most people apparently prefer to burn electricity with an air conditioner, rather than acknowledge them.
