Along Kingsway from Hartman Drive to Bellerive Boulevard in Madeley there’s a row that majestically line the road. In summer, they are a source of shade and protection from winds.
In Russell Road they do the same and when we’ve had days of 40C temperature I wished I lived in the house behind them.
If they were removed, the houses on the opposite side of the street will cop the full force of the wind that I too cop in the Madeley area.
This suburb is relatively new and in the 11 years I’ve lived here I now have trees that are 8-10 metres high in my front yard.
Who wants to live in area looking like a lunar landscape?
I used to live in Mt Lawley in an apartment with views of jacaranda trees and when in full bloom the ground would be covered in purple.
If you live in Mary Street, Highgate there’s a canopy created by the trees and in summer, again, it is bliss.
So, if these trees are going to be chopped down are the people who don’t want them going to stay in the area or sell up after a year?
It’s like people moving into a city apartment that is near a well-known nightclub. It has to close because of a small minority who knew what they were in for.
The old nursery that used to be on the left hand side of Wanneroo Road, Madeley before the Kingsway intersection heading south used to have majestic gum trees and natives ” all gone for development.
It’s the same for The Palm City Nursery ” all the palm trees are gone and, ironically, the estate is called Madeley Palms Estate.
Please stop this stupidity before we lose all character in the suburb.
