IN an effort to raise money for cancer research, Peard Real Estate Joondalup’s Pauline Lyon took part in the Ride to Conquer Cancer last weekend.
The sales associate was the only woman to join Peard’s team of five riders, which included team caption David Lynch and Sam Mannino (both from the Scarborough office), Les Lindsay (Hillarys office) and Shaun Pettit (Leederville office).
“I have lost many friends to cancer and I wanted to honour Janine Halse and Anthony ‘Cruise’ Gaskell who both lost their lives in their early forties,” Mrs Lyon said.

READ NOWThe Ride to Conquer Cancer Perth event comprised a two-day, 200km return journey from Taylor Reserve, Victoria Park to Hall Park, Mandurah, with an overnight campout.
“I hadn’t done much training before the event,” Mrs Lyon said.
“I think the longest ride I had done was only 60km so I found the journey very challenging, however, I got through it by reminding myself that my sore muscles were infinitely less painful than my friends battle with cancer.”
Mrs Lyon raised $3850 of the team’s $18,500, which will go to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, WA’s premier adult medical research institute.
