The Arena Joondalup coach said it was a privilege to be selected for the program after she had attended some of Fowlie’s seminars.

Fowlie is a platinum licence coach, which means he has prepared Australian swimmers to compete in world championships and the Olympics.

Swimming WA brought Fowlie to the state to mentor a select number of developing coaches to help them acquire the skills and techniques needed to deliver high performance outcomes, such as getting athletes on national teams.

Martin’s application was successful because of her performance over the 2012-2013 season and her commitment to professional development.

‘All the coaches, as well as myself, benefited greatly from the wealth of knowledge Jim was able to pass on to us,’ Martin said.

‘This type of program is invaluable to coaches who wish to increase their coaching knowledge and expertise.’

Martin said Fowlie also coached the national team on one of his visits to the club, ‘which they enjoyed immensely.’

Fowlie will visit WA again for a week in October and November.
