Blitz firepower on show heralds explosive action

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

As a product of this fine competition, it was pleasant to be able to watch a number of games at last Sunday’s SBL Pre-Season Blitz.

It wasn’t long ago where I was trying to make a mark with the Wanneroo Wolves and the 2011 SBL championship is one of the proudest moments in my basketball career.

Watching the Wolfpack play not only reminded me of some of my fondest memories, it also gave me the opportunity to give some feedback to some of the newest members of the team.

Once again, we have a talented squad, which I believe will strongly contend for the championship.

After watching the blitz, the teams that impressed the most were the usual candidates.

Lakeside Lightning and the Perry Lakes Hawks have extremely talented teams and are guided by outstanding coaches.

Last year’s grand finalists the East Perth Eagles and Cockburn Cougars look like major threats.

I also expect the Geraldton Buccaneers to provide some firepower in the league.

The one team I think will be major improvers in the league will be the Perth Redbacks ” recruiting Justin Brown was huge, along with the return of AJ Johnston.
