Currently, the club shares a pitch with the Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Club at Arena Joondalup, but the upgrade of Admiral Park means the club can now base itself at the Heathridge oval, preventing training and match schedule conflicts.
The new building, which includes refurbished changerooms, meeting space, kitchen facility and storage areas, will also be used by tenant clubs Ocean Ridge Junior Cricket Club and Whitfords and Districts Senior Cricket Club, as well as for community-based meetings and activities.
‘The City contributed over $900,000 to complete this much-needed community facility and worked closely with local clubs that will use this new centre,’ Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said.
Funding for parking upgrades has been listed for consideration in the 2014-15 budget as well as new floodlighting in 2016-17.
The official opening was held before the Giants’ winning WA Rugby League first grade match with the previously unbeaten South Perth Lions.
