Falcons buoyed by efficient kicking in back-to-form win

However, we're also aware the Sharks had a number of players out.

So while it was a good win, we expect a bigger challenge the next time we play them.

We kicked really well to finish with 16 goals.

The players started the season strongly with their goal kicking before dropping off in accuracy the last few games.

It was good to see them getting back to an efficient return.

Pleasingly, we kicked seven majors at what was considered the non-scoring end in blustery conditions.

Only Mitch van Berlo (calf/Achilles) and Rohan Kerr (back) pulled up tender from the match but we expect them both to be available for our next contest against East Perth given that there's a 16-day break because of this Saturday's State game.

Ill be taking the rare opportunity to watch my son play football on Saturday afternoon so I won't be getting to the clash against South Australia at Lathlain Park.

But West Perth could have between one and three players in the WA side.

I expect Andrew Strijk to be named, while the panel is yet to decide on Aaron Black and Shane Nelson.

It will be a struggle to get them both in the team given the level of midfield talent in the squad.

When I coached WA last year, we faced the same dilemma.

They're different players Nelson is a genuine inside player and Black is an outside footballer.

Their selection will depend on the balance the coaches are looking for.

They both deserve to play, but it's a competition full of great midfielders so it's no disgrace to miss out.
