We know how much a win against the Royals means to our supporters so we’ll be looking to hit the ground running after our undefeated pre-season hit outs.

The players attacked them with real enthusiasm, beating Peel Thunder 14.10 (94) to 13.7 (85) and South Fremantle 17.11 (113) to 8.9 (57). We feel we’re ready for the main event, but we also know the pre-season games will not have a great bearing on how our year plays out.

The team is much fresher than it was this time in 2012.

Last year, we had senior players on reduced training programs nursing injuries from the end of the 2011.

That obviously came back to bite us on the backside come the start of the season when we won one of our first four games.

This year, we’ve been relatively injury free.

There’s always one or two niggles in the pre-season given how hard the team works.

But we’ll have a near-full list to choose from for this weekend’s game. The only concerns are our Swan Districts recruits Steven Potente, who broke a finger against the Bulldogs, and James Embley who has had a minor Achilles problem recently.

Both had unhampered pre-seasons up to now.

Together with our other recruits ” Trent Manzone, Shaun Marusic and Rohan Kerr ” they have slotted effectively into our structure.

We have a stronger squad with the different elements they bring to the table and expect their experience to complement our younger players.

We’re really happy with where we’re at, now it’s a matter of going out there and doing it.
