THE northern suburbs are renowned for producing talent in the traditional form of cricket.
And three local sportsmen recently proved the district has much to offer in the indoor version of the game as well.
WA won the under-19 Australian Open Indoor Cricket Championships last month with a local cricketing trio starring for the side.
Ocean Ridge Cricket Club’s Blair Oakley was named player of the grand final, while also being selected as one of four national development players with Cricket Australia.
Oakley was named in the national 19-and-under All Stars side with Quinns Rocks’ Luke Taylor and Joondalup-Kinross’ Jordan Mackie.
They were three of only four WA players to make the side with Mt Lawley’s Travis Keys completing the quartet.
The WA side finished the tournament unbeaten with a 103-99 win over Queensland in the final.
