Anthony Martin (20) started from sixth on the grid and quickly moved to third for another podium finish, while Luke Gabin, also 20, came in fourth, 2.6 seconds behind Martin and just 0.8sec ahead of Chinese star Yufeng Luo.

It was Gabins best result in USF2000, a class he moved into after winning the Skip Barber Motorsport scholarship late last year. He drives with Team Pelfrey and Martin is with John Cummiskey Racing.

Martin, who emerged as the leading rookie in the popular Mazda-powered open-wheel category, had an emotional walk to the iconic 105-year-old venues place of honour.

To be standing up on the podium where so many famous drivers have sprayed the champagne, and to be able to spray some myself was such an unimaginable feeling that I honestly cant describe, he said.

I stood and celebrated in the very same spot where history was made at one of the worlds most prestigious race tracks. It was just such an honour.

The next USF2000 round is on May 23, also at Indianapolis, but on a tight 1.1km oval circuit left turns all the way.
