JOONDALUP Giants went down to reigning premiers South Perth last Saturday at Admiral Park in the opening round of the NRLWA rugby league competition.

The Lions, who won the match 34-22, put pressure on the Giants defence from the start, kicking deep, turning the Giants around forcing them to run into a heavy breeze.

South Perth scored the first try and converted after 14 minutes to lead 6-0.

The Lions kept the pressure on with their speed and clever kicking and took a 22-0 lead at the break.
